Oikawa Jun joined NHK in 1994, initially covering Japanese politics. He worked in New York between 2009 and 2012, where his team won United Nations Correspondent Association Awards for its coverage of denuclearization issues. He has been the Los Angeles Bureau Chief since 2019, covering American social issues and politics.
