Noriyuki Mizuno is a veteran journalist covering issues such as nuclear and renewable energy, the environment, space development and astronomy. He has been following nuclear issues closely since being assigned to Aomori Prefecture, where a nuclear fuel-cycle facility is located, 30 years ago. When the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident occurred in 2011, he served as a commentator on NHK's news programs and explained the latest developments and controversial issues surrounding the accident right after its occurrence. He has written the book, "The most easily understandable textbook of energy issues."
