Matsuo has been stationed in Islamabad since July 2022, covering Pakistan, Afghanistan, regional politics, diplomacy, and defense issues. He was previously stationed in Bangkok, based in Tokyo, after starting his career at NHK in Shizuoka Prefecture over a decade ago.
