Ichige Hiroshi is currently based in Kamaishi City, Iwate Prefecture and covers reconstruction efforts following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. He focused on depopulation and Japan's aging society, and reported on foreign technical trainees in Japan's rural areas when he worked in Saga Prefecture.
