Star-shaped Goryokaku Park in Hakodate City, southern Hokkaido, has about 1,500 cherry blossom trees, mainly of the Somei-yoshino variety. Visitors flock here to ascend the tower, which offers a breathtaking vista of the whole precinct bathed in pink.
