About 1,400 cherry trees of eight varieties are planted in the Michinoku national park in Kawasaki Town, Miyagi Prefecture. On the day of the shooting, the Yoshino-cherry blossom, past its peak, was swaying in the gentle breeze, with petals fluttering down to create a soft pink carpet on the promenade. One visitor to the park said, "The cherry blossom blizzard was enchanting, like a snowfall."
