Blossoms by night

What remains of Ueda Castle, built in the 16th century by the Sanada clan, is now one of the most popular cherry-blossom viewing spots in Nagano Prefecture. The Senbon-zakura festival, or 1,000 cherry-blossom tree festival, is held every year and includes illumination to allow nighttime viewing. The shimmer of the lights on the trees after dark qualifies this as a Japan Night View Heritage Site.
