One of Niigata Prefecture's most famous cherry blossom spots – Takada Castle Ruins Park in Joetsu City – is awash with pink, with the site's 4,000 Somei-yoshino trees coming into full bloom earlier this week. The area is a popular place for night-time cherry blossom viewing. Food and drink stalls have opened this year for the first time since the pandemic.
