The early-blooming cherry tree in the courtyard of the Okayama Prefectural Office in Okayama City is at its peak. The tree was propagated with a cutting from the famous "daigozakura" cherry tree in Okayama, which is said to be 1,000 years old. Thanks to amount of sunshine the courtyard gets, the younger tree blooms much earlier than its forebear each year.
