Washington DC's annual cherry blossom festival is in full swing. The roughly 3,800 cherry trees were gifted by the mayor of Tokyo in 1912. This year, the cherry blossoms reached their peak more than a week earlier than usual, drawing big crowds of camera-wielding visitors and picnickers.
