Yanaka Marie

Yanaka Marie grew up in Japan, Singapore, and the U.S. Living in the New York area at the time of the 9/11 attacks, she turned to mass media for credible information and began to think about a career in journalism. Currently, she anchors NEWSLINE IN DEPTH, reports for NEWSLINE BIZ (sometimes from the Tokyo Stock Exchange), and writes business-related articles. She previously covered the arts for NEWSROOM TOKYO. Before joining NHK WORLD-JAPAN, Marie appeared on domestic news programs, including Nikkei CNBC. Marie was named Miss Japan while studying law at Keio University. She loves Japanese culture and enjoys going to kabuki in kimono.
