A poll in South Korea shows that President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating has dropped to 51 percent, the lowest since he took office in June 2025.
Gallup Korea surveyed 1,000 people in the three days through Thursday. Lee's approval rating was down six points from the previous survey two weeks ago.
The disapproval rating rose to 41 percent, topping the 40-percent mark for the first time.
Most of the respondents who said they support the president chose "diplomacy" as the reason.
Among those who disapprove, 15 percent of the respondents, the largest number, cited "economy and livelihood," followed by "real estate policies" and "election fraud and other problems" at 10 percent each.
Public discontent is growing in South Korea over the soaring cost of living and a persistent rise in urban property prices. Shortages of ballot papers also caused an uproar during this month's local elections.
President Lee is now in the second year of his five-year term. He underscored his intention to focus on the economy on Thursday, by referring to possible measures to curb the prices of petroleum products.
