Japanese soccer player Sano Kaishu arrested on suspicion of sexual assault

Police in Japan have arrested Japanese soccer player Sano Kaishu on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman. Sano played on Japan's national team during this year's AFC Asian Cup.

The 23-year-old played for the Kashima Antlers in Japan's J-League.

Investigative sources say Sano and two other men in their 20s are alleged to have sexually assaulted the woman at around 4 a.m. on Sunday at a hotel in Tokyo's Bunkyo Ward. The woman is said to be in her 30s.

The sources say the police received a call from the woman and rushed to the scene. They found the three men near the hotel and arrested them later.

The three men reportedly dined with the woman just before the incident occurred.

The police are investigating the details surrounding the case.

They have not revealed whether the men have admitted that the allegations against them are true.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Sano planned to leave the Kashima Antlers and play for Mainz 05 in the German professional league.
