Elon Musk reportedly plans to donate $45 million a month to pro-Trump group

The Wall Street Journal says billionaire Elon Musk plans to commit about 45 million dollars a month to a political action committee backing former US President Donald Trump.

It reported the news on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The newspaper noted that while it can be difficult to trace the full scope of political donations, the largest known contribution to the Trump campaign so far in the 2024 presidential race has been 50 million dollars.

Trump was shot and wounded in the right ear at a campaign rally in the state of Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Musk posted on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that he fully endorses Trump and hopes for his rapid recovery.

He later posted, "Last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt."

Back in March, Musk had posted, "Just to be super clear, I am not donating money to either candidate for US President."
