Landslide kills 11 on Indonesia's Sulawesi island

In Indonesia, at least 11 people have been killed after torrential rains triggered a landslide at an illegal gold mine in Sulawesi island.

The landslide struck Sunday in Gorontalo Province. Rescuers are searching for 17 missing people.

Five survivors have been found. Some are injured and have been hospitalized.

But accessing the disaster site is difficult. Rescuers must trek over 20 kilometers along a mud-covered road.

The head of local search and rescue agency says the Gorontalo police will send a helicopter to help the evacuation process.

Indonesia's disaster agency warns there's a risk of further accidents as more rain is expected in the area through Tuesday.
