Tesla global car sales drop for 2nd straight quarter

Tesla reported car sales fell for the second straight quarter year-on-year. The drop comes amid tougher competition and slowing demand for electric vehicles.

The EV giant says it sold 443,956 vehicles worldwide in April to June. That's down 4.7 percent from the same period last year.

The US company's sales also fell in the January to March quarter, the first dip in almost four years.

The declines come as competition heats up with major Chinese rival BYD. At the same time, demand for EVs is cooling in the US.
