Rainy season starts in Japan's Kinki, Tokai, Kanto-Koshin regions

Japanese weather officials say the rainy season appears to have begun in the Kinki, Tokai and Kanto-Koshin regions, including Tokyo. They forecast rainy and cloudy days for these areas in the week ahead.

The Meteorological Agency made the announcement on Friday morning. Rain has been intensifying in the Kanto-Koshin and Tokai regions due to a weather front and a low-pressure system.

The announcement for the Kinki and Tokai regions came 23 days later than last year and 15 days later than average. The start of the rainy season in the Kanto-Koshin region is 13 days later than last year and 14 days later than usual.
