Shinkansen services could be suspended due to heavy rain, some flights canceled

Central Japan Railway Company says the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train line could see delays and suspension of service Tuesday evening due to expected heavy rains and strong winds.

The rough weather has also led to cancelations of some domestic flights.

Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways say a total of 52 flights, mainly those to and from Tokyo's Haneda Airport, had been canceled as of 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Train and air passengers are advised to continue checking for the latest service information.
