Three children and their mother were found dead with stab wounds and cuts to their bodies on Thursday at their home in Tokyo, where a fire occurred. Police plan to question the father, who is hospitalized for smoke inhalation.
Tokyo police say 37-year-old Takanami Fuyumi and her three children, aged between 2 and 6, were found dead at their home in Shinagawa Ward.
Investigative sources say the four had multiple stab wounds and cuts, and appear to have been killed with a knife that was found near their bodies.
Police launched an on-site investigation on Friday. They say there were no signs of forced entry. Investigators plan to question the father after he recovers.
The father, who is in his 40s, reportedly has what could be a self-inflicted wound to the neck.
