China condemns US over report of new tariffs on Chinese EVs

China has condemned the United States following a US media report that President Joe Biden's administration is planning to impose new tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles and other products.

China's foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian spoke on the issue at a news conference on Friday. He pointed out that the World Trade Organization has already ruled that US tariffs on Chinese steel and other items imposed by the previous administration under former President Donald Trump violate WTO rules.

Lin said the US is on the verge of making more mistakes instead of correcting its flawed approach.

He urged the US to properly abide by the WTO rules and added that China will take all necessary measures to defend its rights and interests.
