Inoue Naoya knocks out Luis Nery to defend unified super bantamweight title

Japanese boxer Inoue Naoya defended his undisputed super bantamweight championship for the first time with a technical knockout of Mexico's Luis Nery in the sixth round in Tokyo on Monday.

Inoue unified all four major titles in the super bantamweight division last year, after becoming undisputed champion in a different weight category. Nery is a former two-division world champion.

Nery floored Inoue in the first round with a left hook. But Inoue got up and knocked Nery down in the following round with a left hook. Another left hook from Inoue sent his Mexican opponent to the canvas again in the fifth.

In the sixth, Inoue drove Nery into a corner and finished him off with a right punch.
