Man arrested in connection with charred bodies found north of Tokyo

Police in Japan have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with two burnt bodies that were found last week in Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo.

Investigative sources told NHK that the man, who lives in Saitama, near Tokyo, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly damaging the corpses.

The two bodies were discovered near a forest road in the town of Nasu on April 16. One of them was identified as that of Takarajima Ryutaro, a 55-year-old man with a Tokyo address. The other is believed to be his wife.

Both bodies were found burned all over. The victims are believed to have been killed by strangulation and other means.

The man later turned himself in to police in Tokyo. The suspect reportedly told police during voluntary questioning that he only provided his car and had nothing to do with the killing.

Police believe more people may have been involved in the case.
