Evacuation order issued for residents in part of Naha, Okinawa

The Naha municipal government in Okinawa Prefecture, southern Japan, has issued an evacuation order to local residents in part of the city, warning that heavy rains are increasing the risk of landslides.

The order was put in place on Monday morning for 58,235 people from 27,520 households in the Oroku district in the city.

The order is based on the Meteorological Agency's five-level warning scale. The current level is four, which requires residents in dangerous areas to evacuate.
