Philippines lifts tsunami warning, no tsunami observed so far

Authorities in the Philippines have lifted a tsunami warning that was issued following a strong quake that struck off the eastern coast of Taiwan on Wednesday morning.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology had urged residents in coastal areas facing Taiwan to evacuate to higher ground or move further inland.

The institute says it has not observed any significant sea level disturbances or tsunami at its monitoring stations so far.
