Japanese actor Sanada Hiroyuki throws 1st pitch at Dodgers-Cardinals game

Japanese movie star Sanada Hiroyuki threw the ceremonial first pitch at the Major League Baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals at Dodger Stadium on Sunday.

Sanada now lives in Los Angeles and is working as both an actor and a producer.

He threw a ball with no bounds toward Japanese pitcher Yamamoto Yoshinobu, who served as catcher for the event.

Sanada told reporters before the pitch that sports and entertainment are different worlds, but both bring people courage, pride and spirit.

He said he feels a bond with Japanese players Ohtani Shohei and Yamamoto, and hopes to work together to bring additional excitement to baseball.
