Kobayashi Pharma reports another suspected death involving its supplement

Japanese drugmaker Kobayashi Pharmaceutical says one more person has died after taking the company's supplement containing a "beni-koji" malted rice ingredient. This brings the number of people found to have died after taking the product to five.

Kobayashi Pharmaceutical said on Friday that it was contacted by the family of the person who died due to a suspected kidney failure after taking the supplement.

The drugmaker said it does not know how long the person was taking the supplement.

The company is investigating the link between the supplement and the death.
