Popular manga 'Sailor Moon' features on new manhole covers installed in Tokyo

Two manhole covers featuring characters from the popular Japanese manga series, "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon," have been installed in central Tokyo.

Minato Ward is the setting for the manga series created by Takeuchi Naoko. A total of five different designs will be fitted in five locations across the district to attract fans and tourists from Japan and abroad.

The manga series and anime based on "Sailor Moon" have won legions of admirers worldwide.

The first two covers were installed in a shopping district and outside a public library. They depict the main character and her friends in vivid colors. Fans could be seen taking pictures of them.

Ward officials plan to install the three remaining covers this month. They say they will create maps showing their locations, and distribute cards based on the covers.
