Russian military plane with Ukrainian prisoners reportedly crashes near border

Russian state-run media are reporting that a plane of the country's military carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war crashed near Ukraine's border on Wednesday.

The TASS news agency quoted Russia's defense ministry as saying the Ilyushin-76 transport plane was carrying 65 Ukrainian soldiers, six Russian military personnel and three others.

The cause of the crash is not known.

Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin was looking into the situation.
