US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin says the US military has conducted strikes on facilities in eastern Syria used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and groups affiliated with the country.
Austin said in a statement on Sunday that the precision strikes were in response to continued attacks against US personnel in Iraq and Syria.
He said one of the targets was a training facility.
The Pentagon says US forces in Syria and Iraq were attacked 46 times between October 17 and November 9. It says a total of 56 US personnel were injured.
On October 26 and last Wednesday, the US military also bombed Iran-related facilities in eastern Syria.
