A US official has said the Israeli military will hold four-hour daily pauses in their battle against Hamas militants in northern Gaza.
The spokesperson for the National Security Council says Israelis officials will declare the first pause sometime Thursday.
John Kirby says they will announce each window three hours beforehand.
Kirby says the agreement emerged from talks between US and Israeli officials, including a call between President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israeli forces launched their assault on Gaza more than a month ago in response to a cross-border raid by Hamas.
More than 10,000 people have been killed.
