Multiple Russian media have reported that President Vladimir Putin will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Wednesday at a space center in Russia's far eastern region of Amur.
Russian railway officials told NHK that the train carrying Kim was travelling in the Amur region on Wednesday morning. Russia's state-run news agency reported that Putin had already arrived at the space center.
Kim and Putin are expected to discuss the expansion of military cooperation between their countries. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu is also slated to attend.
Russian diplomatic sources told NHK that the two leaders are likely to agree to beef up bilateral cooperation on military technology.
There is a growing view that North Korea will seek Russia's support in acquiring military technologies necessary for nuclear-powered submarines and reconnaissance satellites.
