Police have arrested a man after his car collided with the gates of Downing Street in central London, site of the office and residence of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. They say they are currently not treating the incident as terror-related.
Local police said the car hit the gates on Thursday at around 4:20 p.m. local time and came to a halt. Police arrested the man for dangerous driving and other charges.
BBC television showed footage of the car crossing a road, then slowing down as it approached the gates.
The Prime Minister was reportedly at the residence when the incident occurred. Police said no one was injured.
