NHK has learned more errors were discovered in Japan's My Number ID system. Three such national IDs were found to be linked to the wrong bank accounts.
The government's Digital Agency told NHK that the mistaken links were for sending pension and other benefits. Similar glitches were uncovered in 11 cases within the My Number system nationwide earlier this week.
Fukushima City was hit with some mistakes when local officials helped users connect their bank accounts to their My Number IDs on a central government website.
The helpers failed to log out ID holders in some cases. This led to other people's bank details being erroneously added to the still-opened user account.
The Digital Agency has investigated the matter and says no payments have been made into the incorrectly registered accounts. The number of reported mistakes may rise after the agency asked local governments to flag such problems.
