Major US media outlets reported on Tuesday that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will announce on Wednesday his bid to seek the Republican nomination for next year's presidential election.
He could be the biggest rival of former President Donald Trump in the Republican nomination race.
DeSantis will reportedly make the announcement during a live webcast on Twitter of his meeting with Elon Musk, who bought the social media platform last year.
DeSantis is popular among conservative voters with his combative stance against the Democrats. He has ranked second in several polls behind Trump as the possible Republican nominee.
Trump, former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and others have already announced their candidacy in the Republican race. Former Vice President Mike Pence may also enter.
In the Democratic camp, President Joe Biden declared last month that he will seek reelection.
