Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has criticized the Group of Seven summit in Hiroshima. He says the decisions being discussed and adopted at the event "are aimed at the double containment of Russia and China."
Lavrov made the remark at a conference on diplomacy and defense policy that was held in the suburbs of the capital, Moscow, on Saturday.
He repeatedly criticized Western nations for intensifying their support for Ukraine.
In the G7 Leaders' Communique that was issued on Saturday, the participants condemned Russia's war of aggression in the strongest possible terms.
Lavrov also made it clear that Russia is in a confrontation with Western nations. He insisted that they are not just trying to defeat Russia on the battlefield. Lavrov said they also want to eliminate Russia as a geopolitical rival.
