Belarusian president appears in public amid rumors that he is ill

Belarus has announced that President Alexander Lukashenko has visited the central command of the country's air force. This comes amid rumors that he is ill.

The presidential office made the announcement on Monday. It also released images of the president speaking with military commanders.

This is the first time that the president has appeared in public since May 9, when he attended Victory Day events in Moscow, Russia.

But Lukashenko did not dine with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also failed to show up at a ceremony in Belarus on Sunday.

The announcement was apparently made to dispel rumors that the president is ill. Belarus is a staunch ally of Russia and has been supporting Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
