Hitachi to develop generative AI tech for its businesses

Hitachi says it plans to develop its own artificial intelligence by combining its technologies with other generative AI tools such as ChatGPT.

The Japanese industrial conglomerate aims to utilize new AI tech for its rail and industrial-machinery businesses.

Hitachi has launched an in-house organization that consists of dozens of data scientists and experts to promote the safe use of generative AI tools.

The group has drawn up guidelines in response to concerns over such issues as data leakage and infringement of privacy.

Hitachi says it aims to employ its knowledge to speed up the use of generative AI while avoiding related risks.
Japanese telecom giant NTT is also developing its own generative AI. And SoftBank has set up a new company to promote the technology's use.
