Biden, Modi to meet in Washington in June

The White House says US President Joe Biden has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an official state visit to Washington on June 22.

The statement says Modi's visit will "affirm the deep and close partnership" between the two countries. It also says the visit will strengthen "our shared resolve to elevate our strategic technology partnership, including in defense, clean energy, and space."

India is part of the Quad framework, which also includes the US, Japan and Australia. The US sees the grouping as important to counter China.
