Brazil's ex-President Bolsonaro's home raided over falsified COVID records

Police in Brazil have searched former President Jair Bolsonaro's home over alleged falsification of COVID-19 vaccination data.

Brazil's Federal Police raided Bolsonaro's home in the capital of Brasilia on Wednesday. They also arrested six of his former aides for their suspected involvement in the falsification.

The former president denied any role in allegedly forging documents.

Police suspect that the former president had vaccination records at the country's health ministry falsified between November 2021 and December last year to forge vaccination certificates.

Local media reported that the vaccination records were falsified shortly before Bolsonaro traveled to the United States with his family in December.

The former president reportedly told local media that he had never taken a COVID vaccine and never falsified vaccine certificates.

Bolsonaro is also being investigated on allegations that he incited attacks on the parliament and other buildings in January, as well as his suspected attempts to appropriate gifts of jewelry that he received from Saudi Arabia while he was in office.
