The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued a warning of a possible tsunami of up to a meter high for coasts located within 300 kilometers of an earthquake epicenter near the Kermadec Islands in the South Pacific.
The magnitude 7.1 quake occurred at 00:56 UTC on Thursday.
