New Harry Potter theme park to open in Tokyo in June

The Japanese arm of Warner Bros. Entertainment has announced that a new Harry Potter themed immersive park in Tokyo is set to open on June 16.

The park has been constructed at a plot in Nerima Ward where the former Toshimaen amusement park was located. Toshimaen, which was one of Tokyo's oldest parks, closed in 2020.

The area of the new park is about 30,000 square meters. That is one of the largest indoor facilities for a Harry Potter themed park.

Visitors can explore sets recreating famous scenes from the movie series. They can also take a video, appearing as if they are flying through the air on a broomstick.

Warner Bros. Studio Japan Vice President Matsuo Toshihiro says that it is very meaningful for Tokyo to be able to offer a new entertainment facility to tourists from overseas.

He also said that he hopes residents in the surrounding area will be proud to be living nearby, as they were of Toshimaen.
