Russia fires over 80 missiles at Ukraine, Kyiv says

Ukraine's military says Russia fired more than 80 missiles in an early morning strike that targeted the nation's energy grid. The strikes set off air raid sirens in the capital.

People in Kyiv are assessing the damage caused by the latest barrage.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko had urged them to take shelter from explosions in the south and in the west.

Elsewhere... attacks forced the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant onto back-up power.

But Ukraine's Energoatom says the generators will only last ten days --- and it worries a prolonged outage could lead to a serious situation.
