Pakistan suicide bomb attack kills at least 9 security officers

A suicide bombing in southwest Pakistan has killed at least 9 security personnel and injured 13 others. Domestic media reported that Islamic State militants and a local militant group have claimed responsibility.

The attack occurred Monday morning in Balochistan Province. The bomber rammed a security force truck with an explosive-laden motorcycle. Police confirmed that the incident was a suicide blast and said further investigation is underway.

Balochistan Province has suffered from a decades-long insurgency by separatists demanding independence, claiming that the region's mineral resources have been exploited.

Pakistan has been facing security challenges which threaten its political and economic stability. The Pakistani Taliban militant group claimed responsibility for 29 attacks on security forces across the country last month.
