Japan's Takagi wins bronze in women's 1,500-meter speed skating event

Japanese speed skater Takagi Miho has finished third in the women's 1,500-meter race at the world championships in the Netherlands, winning her second bronze in the event.

After passing the 700-meter mark in fifth position, Takagi finished third with a time of one minute and 54.39 seconds in Sunday's race. The Netherlands' Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong won the gold, clocking one minute and 53.54 seconds.

Takagi's two new awards bring her world speed skater championship medal haul to 11, the highest in Japan.

Division world record holder Takagi won the silver at the Beijing Olympics in 2022. She is known for her ability to maintain her speed throughout a race.
