Trump calls for support in 2024 presidential election

Former US President Donald Trump called for support in next year's presidential election at a rally on Saturday.

Trump gave a speech on the final day of the Conservative Political Action Conference held near Washington. He criticized President Joe Biden's economic policies and vowed to "finish what we started" and "make America great again".

Former US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, who has also declared her presidential candidacy, was among participants at the four-day conference.

Other possible candidates, such as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence, did not take part.
DeSantis attended another weekend event that took place in Florida, held by conservatives who have distanced themselves from Trump.

The two events exposed division within the Republican Party ahead of the presidential race.
