Japanese actor sues lawyer for sexual harassment

A Japanese female stage actor has sued a prominent sexual harassment lawyer for sexual harassment.

The plaintiff, who goes by the name Chino, filed a lawsuit against Managi Izutaro with the Tokyo District Court.

He had been helping her with an anti-harassment initiative in the theater industry.

Chino accuses Managi of touching her body and forcing her to have sex.

She is demanding 11 million yen, or about 80,000 dollars, in damages.

At a news conference on Friday, Chino said she could not reject his advances outright because she was his client.

She is demanding that the Tokyo bar association to which he belongs takes disciplinary action.

Managi obtained his lawyer's license in 2010, and has since worked to prevent harassment in the theater industry.

He was also a leading defense counsel in a damages lawsuit against the government and Tokyo Electric Power Company following the March 2011 nuclear disaster.

On Wednesday, Managi offered an apology in a blog post.

He admitted that he came to love Chino and sent her a suggestive message, adding that he psychologically tormented her as a result.

Managi said that he has betrayed the trust of his clients, and will stop teaching harassment prevention programs.
