A fire has broken out at a high-rise building that was under construction in Hong Kong. Local media outlets say two people have been taken to a hospital.
Police officials received a report about a blaze in the downtown area of the Kowloon Peninsula shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday.
The fire is said to have started in the upper part of the building. The structure was reported to be engulfed in flames. Bamboo scaffolding and other objects at the site have apparently burned down.
The construction site is surrounded by hotels, a shopping mall and residential buildings. Police say 130 people were temporarily evacuated.
Construction work was reportedly underway to build a hotel. The cause of the fire is unknown.
