Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang have agreed that their countries will maintain exchanges on all levels.
The two ministers met on Thursday on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers' conference in India.
The Russian Foreign Ministry quoted Lavrov as saying that cooperation between the two countries is steadily progressing in the economic, cultural and other fields, due to an agreement between the leaders of both countries.
The ministry also said the ministers confirmed that they will hold regular meetings to further deepen exchanges between the two sides.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said Qin explained the country's position regarding Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Beijing has been calling for dialogue and a ceasefire. The ministry also said Qin stressed that China supports a political solution.
The ministry quoted Qin as saying that Beijing is opposed to any attempts to fan the flames, disrupt peace talks and increase sanctions and pressure.
Lavrov reportedly praised China and said that Beijing is playing an objective, fair and constructive role in the Ukraine situation.
