India apartment block collapse leaves at least 3 dead

An apartment block has collapsed in northern India, leaving at least three people dead. Several are feared to be trapped in the debris as rescuers scramble to search for survivors.

The residential building located in the state of Uttar Pradesh came crashing down on Tuesday. Police say rescue workers have pulled more than 10 people out of the rubble so far, including two children.

The site is located in a crowded, high-end area of the state's capital, Lucknow.

Authorities have not commented on possible causes for the collapse. But such incidents are not rare in India, due to old and often illegal construction.
