US Vice President Kamala Harris has spoken in support of abortion rights, saying that those rights are under attack across the United States.
Harris delivered a speech in the southern state of Florida on Sunday, which marks the 50th anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling that guaranteed a constitutional right to an abortion.
Referring to last year's Supreme Court decision to overturn the ruling, Harris said it is not a time to be deterred or overwhelmed, but to stand up to protect the freedom of every woman.
Harris said Republicans in Congress are calling for a nationwide abortion ban.
She said the right of every woman in every state in the country to make decisions about her own body is on the line.
She added that no one is immune to the impact of restricted access to abortion.
